NO NO NO....a real man would never ask a mother to give up her child. Run away from that man as fast as you can.

I would tell the man to hit the road. Men don't come before my children.

I would leave that boyfriend immediately . If he truly loved you he would not ask you to give up your child. He dosent care about you. no one really knows what a woman in the 1900s would do is put in this situation but i suspect the same thing.

Hayley
i dont know what people from 1900 would do, but i would not give up my child. The man I love would have to live with the child or he would not be able to live with me.

My kids always have and always will come first. The loser could walk if he didn't like it.

My son's mother did this. We adopted internationally, and have kept in touch and sent money to support the family. Last year I got an email from our contact asking me to adopt my son's two brothers, as their mom was pregnant with her new boyfriend and he wouldn't allow the boys to be raised with his own child.

I didn't understand the cultural differences. I thought they just needed more money so I sent some so the family could stay together. I found out later that the younger boy died of some kind of illness, but the five year old was sold to a farmer as labor. So, that's what my son's mom did.

Me? I'd tell my boyfriend to take a hike. I thought that by sending more money, I was enabling my son's mother to do the same thing. My friends from that country told me they weren't at all shocked at how it worked out, it's their culture.

CYA to the guy.

I'd never trade my child for a man not in 2008 or 1900!

A woman from 1900 would be a scandal, and would probably never get presented with this situation. However, being a single mom, I would tell him to stay away from me and my kids. I did it with my son's dad, and I would do it again, because this guy sounds like a danger to any child he's around if he just wants a mom to "give up" her child that she's raised and loved.

I would consider that my child doesn't need to be punished by an adult for the simple reason that he's living. Your man should not expect you to make such an unreasonable decision. Love is about acceptance.

i would tell him to get the f*ck out. and not being a woman from the 1900s, i cant say what they'd do. but chances are they would have been married and wouldnt have divorced. divorce just wasnt acceptable back then.

cmaryfitz
i'd kick his butt to the curb, and i'd have done it in the 1900's too - no one comes between me and my kid, and if they tried they're not worth my time or worthy of my love.

OF COURSE NOT. Your child is your child no matter what. Men come and go but your child grew inside you, and the minute they were born you were given an obligation whether you wanted it or not to either take care of the baby or give it someone who would. If you have already been taking care of this baby chances are you've fallen in love with them - especially since they are yours!!!!!!! Could you really give that up??

Children should come first in ANY situation. If a man makes you choose between him and the child, he is not worth it.

In the 1900s the same scenario would not occur. Once a woman was found to be pregnant, she would have been forced to marry the father of the child. If she became pregnant by another man later, it would not have been made public.

Wouldn't even be a question, said "Man U love" would be hitting the road. No hesitation. No regrets. Love me, love my kids.

As to a woman from around 1900 and what she would do, no idea. Depends on the woman in question, I imagine.

Then he wouldn't be living w/me. not sure.

I would tell him to take a hike. Seriously, he wants only his child and I want my children (which means the ones from the ex and him). I dont know about women in the 1900s, I would guess they would sell their children or make them work as slaves in the family in order to keep them close (cruel I know, but I wouldnt think of letting my child go far away).

I wouldn’t even give up a beloved pet let alone a child, just because my man couldn’t deal with the kid. This is why it takes a special person to get involved or marry someone who already has kids. We’d be a packaged deal if a guy could not accept this I would retain custody of both the children and this man could have visitation with the child I had with him. Although I’m not sure I’d want this type of man to have an influence on my child’s life.

I find it very sad that someone would willing get involved with someone who has a child(ren) from past relationships, be fine with it up in till the person has a baby with this person.

No, I would never do that! I don't know what a woman from the 1900's would do.
