One time my friends an i were hanging out and eating pizza at a local pizza place. My friend asked the waitress for a pen paper, and started to draw. i said- what are you drawing? and she said - your mom. i thought she was talking about my mom (now) but then she started drawing blonde hair in golden curls. i was like- WTF ARE YOU DRAWING!!!!!!! Then the waitress made us sit at an outside table because i screamed WTF in a pizza place. but we still got our pizza. it was pretty funny to tell you the truth, and i was REALLY embarrassed. she said- i am drawing your birth mother. WHY IS SHE DOING THAT?

The whole point is, she has no idea what my real mom looks like, i am the only one who has a crinkled up picture f her, holding me when i was about to turn 2. I don't tell anyone about what happened to me, and why i was adopted. then my other friend who felt bad for me, gave my friend a *don't do that* look, and she stopped, and she turned the picture of my birth mom, into picture of a gangster. why did she draw a picture of my real mother????

Because it is on her mind of what if etc. She didn't do it to hurt you. Im sure you have wondered as well what she looks like etc. I bet she wonders what you look like as well. |

In my 40+ years of being an adoptee, I have often been "helped" by well-intentioned people who knew absolutely nothing about adoption, my adoption, nor my feelings about it. They have attempted to "explain" things of which they have no knowledge. And frankly, as much as I might appreciate their intentions, their actions are blatantly dismissive of my feelings and offensive. I think you need to tell your artistic "friend" that she is out-of-line, cavalier, and offensive. |
