I had an interview for F1 class visa to USA (it was approximately two weeks ago). At the end of the interview, they gave me a paper indicating that "administrative processing" was needed before they could issue me the visa. Right now, all my documents are at the US embassy (I called them yesterday, and they told me that my documents are in Washington DC). How much time will it take to finish the Administrative Process Pending 221 (g)?
Also, I did not get a case number, so I cannot follow my case online.
Additional Information:
I am from a South American country.
I was renovating my visa, because my old F1 visa had not expired yet.
At first, the officer approved my visa, but after a while he gave me the blue sheet indicating administrative process needed (221 (g)). He also told me that I should not worry, that everything is going to be fine, should I believe him?

BTW, my classes begin on August.

A 221 (g) is usually a denial pending further evidence needed depending on the visa type...my fiance was denied a fiance visa under 221 (g) as well saying your case is under processing...it's been three months already...I think you shoud re-read the blue paper and make sure it says your visa was approved
This is what section 221 (g) states:
Section 221 (g), prohibits the issuance of a visa to anyone whose application does not comply with the provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act or reguations issued pursuant thereto. The remarks on the reverse of this form apply in your case *
then you flip the page over and the "other" box is checked and there is a typed "Your case is under processing" |
