Am I allowed to leave the United States with an Expired British Passport?

I do have a valid Green Card. I plan to renew my passport in the UK prior to returning. I know they wouldn't let me enter on an expired passport but I would think leaving should be okay.

I would try to get it renewed before you go. How much time do you have?
I know that my daughter, who has an American and Brazilian passport was not allowed to leave Brazil with her Brazilian passport expired, even though she had a valid American passport and we were going to the US, where we planned to have her Brazilian passport renewed at the Brazilian consulate, since her documents were all in English.
A little bit different situation than yours, but I know that it screwed up all of our travel plans, and we had to get hotels and do the whole federal police thing, and change our tickets for the whole family- it was a royal pain. Definately better to get it renewed beforehand rather than face the possibility of running into that kind of problem.

Leaving is fine but you may problems on entering the UK - contact the nearest British consul for current information - they may be able to either renew your passport or provide documentation to allow you to enter the UK problem free |

in order to travel , all travelers must be in possession of a valid passport .........
a green card is a residence id for the US only
a passport is mandatory for travel to most foreign countries.
do not leave without it ...........you will not be allowed to pass immigration |
