I'm pretty sure this is a British passport, but please help me make sure. The passport is purple with the words European Union, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Passport, on the cover.
On the inside of the cover, it says Her Britannic Majesty's Secretary of State Requests and requires in the Name of Her Majesty all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance, and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be neccessary.
On my page with my picture on it, it says Type is P, Code as GBR. Nationality says British citizen.
I am confused because I am born and raise in Hong Kong, a British colony, and have been in England for less than two years, but I have held this type of passport my entire life. I'm pretty sure it is because my father was given British citizenship? because of his potential to go to Britian, so the his immediate family was given it as well? I am not sure.
Please help. Thanks.

The cover pretty much tells you what you need to know.
It is a British passport. As the UK is part of the EU it is also an EU passport.
Chilren of British citizens have the right to a British passport.
From what I know of Hong Kong it was a British dependant teritory and as None of the Overseas Territories have their own nationality status, and all citizens are classed as British Overseas Territories citizens (BOTC). That is different to a British citizen so I would guess you got your citizen status through you father. |

Yes, it is a EU Passport issued by the United Kingdom. You are a British citizen by birth because of your British father.

If it says "British Citizen" under citizenship,then it you are a British citizen, and by extension also a citizen of the European Union.
You do not have a BNO passport otherwise it would say "British National Overseas" under citizenship. |
