i was born and raised in the philippines.my dad is an american and my mom is a filipina. i was nateuralized as a u.s citizen here in the philippines in the u.s. embassy in 1994. but, havent left the country yet,i am planning to leave the philippines this month but i have a problem with my u.s.passport,they said that the philippine immigration will hold me in the airport.because my dad wasnt paying tax. which now is a huge amount of money. and in a way ia can travel to america is if i use a philippine passport which doesnt makes sense. what do i do? who is smart enough to know all of the information i need to know so that i can leave this month and so that i wont have to pay much with that tax.

You are a dual citizen but all US citizens are required to enter the US on a US passport or the new Passport card if entering by land. The Philippine government cannot and will not prevent you from leaving the country due to your father. They can only hold you for crimes that you have committed. |

since you are an US citizen,(dual) the Philippines immigration has no words to say to you whatsoever concerning the debt of your father,
your mother, in that case would be first obligated to pay his taxes and not you........
you are an US citizen.....that is if you present yourself with the US passport,
the unpaid taxes of your father? does not concern you, since when? do children carry their parents mistakes?
use your US passport, and go to the US;
your Philippines passport, does NOT allow you to enter the US without a visa,
the Philippines, is not in the visa waiver,
simply can use your US passport.......
i cannot see the immigration holding you for your father's unpaid taxes..... |

It is illegal for an American citizen to enter the US on anything other than an American passport. You might be able to travel to an intermediate country on your philippine passport and onward on the US one, but you'd need to get legal advice and not trust what some idiot on here says!! |

Yes you are and at this time don't come to America because you won't be able to find a job. It dosen't matter if your dad didn't pay taxes if you are a dual national then you are regardless of your fathers problem he'll just be arrested when he returns to America. Taxes are higher in the United States then the Phillippines you don't want to move to this Country because of Economic problems. The only job you could find in America is joining the Military because they are always hiring. In the U.S. Military we have a ASVAB when you enlist and everyone has to take except for a very few jobs that require a degree. |
