American embassy appointment issues?

I am an american citizen married to a ghana national. We have completed all of the paperwork process and paid all fees. This process took 11 months. When we completed this process we learn that there was a waiting list at the american embassy in accra, ghana with 1140 waiting on appointments. If this is true which I have many doubts about it's taking 3 months to process 140 applications. At this rate it will take years for my wife to get an appointment and receive her visa.

I would appreciate any information from anyone who has experience this problem.

I did a quick check on the website http://usembassy.state.gov/accra/wwwhvisapoint.html and it says that the current wait time for a visitor visa appointment is 14 days and processing time for the visa is 2 days.

Your best bet to be absolutely sure is to contact the Embassy yourself, explain your situation, and ask them how long you have to wait. Here is the contact information for your Embassy:

i would not doubt it my wife an i have been going through this also in the philippines an it has taken approx 15 months for our interview
