Okay so long story short: My husband is from Morocco and his status is currently pending. Homeland Security took his passport to make sure he goes to his court dates because he was in removal proceedings.
He has his (hopefully) final court date in July and the Washington DC immigration office (which is where we live) has received his file and we are now just waiting to be called for his interview.
Since than his Washington DC ID has expired and the DMV will not let him renew it without his passport.
We have tried many things...we have talked to Homeland Security, the DMV, and Immigration to try and see what we could do about getting him a new ID. Basically they all said that he is out of luck and needs to just wait until his court date.
However, we have an important trip we need to go on in June that is way too far to drive and so we need to fly.
I was wondering if he got an ID from the Moroccan embassy if they would accept that for him to fly?
Is an ID issued from the Moroccan Embassy in Washington DC considered "government issued"??
If not does anyone have any other suggestions for what we can do?

Just go to the airport and tell them that he forgot his ID. Most airlines will let him on after putting him through "secondary screening".
Don't use an embassy ID or any foreign ID except a passport. It will cause problems. |
