Anyone know how long it takes for visa to be issued after application received by the U.S. embassy in U.K.?

I am a U.S. citizen and sponsoring my british wife and child to come live in the states. The applications were received at the embassy in London after 3 years of waiting to be approved.Anyone have an idea of how much longer of a wait..am missing out on my kid's childhood.

The Embassy in London only had the application a couple of weeks. Would be excellent news if it is only going to be a couple months more.NVC states not to call the embassy that is processing case.Dunno why.Thanks for the excellent answer.

First and foremost contact your U.S. House Representative. They have the ability to look into your situation and let you know what, if any, hold up there is. They can also give you a "guess" of how much longer it will be. They may require you to send them written permission along with a photocopy of the application. I think that is wise as it is your personal business as well as the avoidance of any mistakes on the "numbers" your wife and child have been designated.

If all else fails....get an Immigration Attorney. The Congressional Office will get you the proper information as to the status though. That's a great place....and FREE...to start. Your tax dollars at work.

Hmm, it's only supposed to take a couple of months. Get in contact with them and see what the problem is.

From what I see: Why not try coming through our Southwestern Boarders, They are wide open. People do it all the time. Why wait in line?
