I think a lot of people assume you want to immigrate to the US. That's not how I understand your question. However, because there are many Russians in the US who have overstayed their travel visas, the US is going to assume you have the same plans. You will have to prove that you have very compelling reasons to return to Russia. These include having an excellent job in Russia. It could also include owning property such as an apartment or a even a car. It could mean that you have children in Russia who will not be travelling with you, or even your wife. Ultimately, you will have to convince the interviewer, but you will have to have all your papers in order to even get in the door.

You either have to apply for the Green Card lottery, which is fixed, so forget it...
Engage yourself to an American to be married and come on a fiancee visa...
or have some special skills that we need to import from Russia. Right now, unless you are a military computer programmer, you can forget it.
