Birth certificate question? (International.)?

Hi! I am wondering,
I was born in the Province of Palermo in Sicily and my parents were getting ready to move here to America when I was born. My parents had already done all the preparation for the move, so they came to America I think it was 2 weeks after I was born. They never filed for an certificato di nascita or what would be an Italian birth certificate. What I am wondering is how I we could go about getting a birth certificate from Italy. My mother has asked around but everyone thinks it's impossible since I was born at their old house in Sicily and not in a hospital.

I will really, really appreciate any (serious) help anyone can give me!
Thanks a lot!
Ciao! <3

I'm not a American citizen. I just always though that I would do the when I turn 18 and would really need it. As for papers of arrival or anything of the such? I don't think so. My parents stayed with some relative for about a year until they found us a place.

You may not have a birth certificate but how did you get to the USA? I presume there was some paperwork and most likely you went on your parent's passports (especially considering how old you are and the fact that Italians still have children on their parents' passports)? It's a possibility they may accept your parents passports with a notorised letter.

Also didn't your mother see anyone while she was pregnant? A doctor before and after you were born (or maybe a hospital)? If they're still around they may have the records.

you should probably call the hospital you would have gone to if anything would have happened that needed immediate care and tell them your story and they would most likely be able to help, but im not possitive.

If your born in the U.S, you an offical citizen. No papers is difficult, especially if your not born in a hospital. I think what you can do best is go become a American citizen?

So was your birth registered or not? If it was registered then you would have to apply for your birth certificate in sicily but you may be able to go to imigration and ask them for help they can direct you to the right place. I can't see why you would not be able to get one as long as you are registereed in your home country. Best of luck to you

Until you get a better answer ...

Do you have any of the papers relating to your arrival, were you recorded as travelling with you parents?

Have you asked the Italian Consul for help?

maybe

OZONE PARK PHIL
Call up the Italian embassy in Washington DC (202) 612-4400
I don't know how it works in Italy but the spanish embassy in DC does birth certificates (I got mine when I was 19)
I guess by Italy being part of the European Union we have common laws.
GOOD LUCK
