In general, birth in Germany does not confer German citizenship if neither parent is German.

as a foreigner in germany,if u were born there,it's not automatically that u r granted a german citizenship... well,i suggest u to contact ur local german embassy and ask.. |

your mother being born in Germany does not allow her to receive German citizenship,
first of all, because neither of her parents are German,and you did not say how long she resided in Germany? Germany is very strict on citizenship, unless you had one parent at least with German citizenship? she will not qualify .to top it all, if one parent was of German descent?
she would had to have kept strong ties to Germany, visit it,or have some family in Germany,and still........it is rare that Germany allows citizenship.
so your mother does not qualify for German citizenship. |

Even if your mom had a citizenship in Germany she could still apply for U.S. citizenship. To do so she must live here for 5 years or more and have a green card/permanent resident. If she does have both, she can apply on line or go to one of the downtown offices and apply in person. The application fee was i believe $400 now its a bit more than that. But the answer to your question is yes, she can become a United States citizen as long as she lived here for 5 years and is a permanent resident. Age does not matter in this case. |
