Born in the USA no US Passport and no Visa ?

I was born in SanDiego,Cali - although I'm Kuwaiti with a Kuwaiti Nationality and passport. I can apply for a US Passort and citizenship but I don't want one, I already have a citizenship. My father was simply studying there at the time and then returned to his home Kuwait. Doesn't make me American by blood per se. Anyhows US embassy says they won't give me a visa ? I need to go with an American Passport ? Is this completely true ? Is there another way ?

The reason they will not give you a visa is because you don't need one as you are a US citizen, that is, having been born in the US of A. Look at it this way, a B2 visa costs 40KD and is good for 10 years at the most. A US passport costs 30KD and is good for also 10 years but you can go to more countries without a visa. I think this is a better deal. Getting a US passport does not mean you are less a Kuwaiti. With your US passport, you can enter visa free 155 countries. I don't know how many countries allow the same privilege to a Kuwaiti passport. If you want to study in the US like your father did, then you can just up and go. No more F-1 applications and job restrictions. Think it over before you act.

If you were born in the US, then yes, you are a US citizen. However you don't have to apply for a US passport if you don't want to. Most US citizens living within the US don't have one either.
The US embassy will indeed not grant you a visa, as you are a US citizen and thus don't need one. So if you want to travel to the US, you will need to apply for a passport.

The only option if you absolutely don't want to be American is to renounce your US citizenship - but I wouldn't do that if it is not absolutely necessary.

I agree with the other posters here. You need to get a US passport. Like you, I was also born in the USA. Since I am currently living in the Philippines, I am considered a dual citizen. In the USA, you are a citizen if you are born there following the rule of jus soli. On the other hand, I was born to Filipino parents so I am also a Filipino citizen because the Philippines follow jus sanguini. Just get a US passport because you are a dual citizen too. It also removes the complications. Upon entering the USA, you will be lining up at the shorter and faster line at the immigration as opposed to that very long line of non-citizens.

Yes, there's another way. You can go to the US Embassy and meet with an American Consular Officer. Explain the situation and ask to renounce your American citizenship.

The American Consular Officer will assist you. After submitting some paperwork you'll swear an oath and that will be the end of it.

After you've renounced your claim to American citizenship you'll be allowed to use your Kuwaiti passport and a visa to come and go from the United States.
