HI, I AM A VOCATIONAL STUDENT IN UNITED STATES ON M-1 VISA AND ITS GONNA EXPIRE PRETTY SOON. I HAVE SOME UNFINISHED WORK OVER HERE. COULD I STAY AFTER MY VISA EXPIRES FOR A WEEK OR TWO?

Wrong, the first three posters are correct. Do not stay a second after your visa expires. You will be barred for a period of time, could be for years. 1-94 is merely an arrival departure record which establishes when you entered and when you left. So they know you are not overstaying.
They could be at your door the next day depending upon which country you are from and you will find yourself in deportation proceedings. Now, there are extensions. Takes time, but call and see if there is any expedited extension service. You become illegal the moment your visa expires! |

Immigration Policy once your visa has expired you are already considered as an illegal alien of that country. you have to go back to your own country before the expiry date or a day before it expires. if you will stay after the expiration date, it will take you 5years to wait in order to come back again if you wish too. (though some can get back again so easily using fake passports without being detected). |

Good news, the previous three posters are all incorrect. When students enter the U.S., they're usually stamped in "Duration of Status" meaning that as long as you're attending your original M-1 program you're legal. Check your I-94 to be sure, but you should be fine as long as you're studying your vocational program. Good luck! |
