Can I become a dual citizen of Spain? USA-Spain?

I was born in the U.S, but my great grandparents are from Spain and i have family who live there so I would like to obtain a dual citizenship. I heard that if you become a citizen of Spain you'll lose your US citizenship? Is this possible for me since I was born in the US? If not what documents do I need to make this possible and how long would this take? If you know any links to the documents please leave them for me THANKS!

Usually, one of your parents or grandparents needs to be Spanish. And no, you won't lose your US citizenship. Simply taking another citizenship isn't enough to do that; running for public office in that other counrty would or joining it's military.

Your issue of citizenship with Spain I cannot answer. However, the idea of dual citizenship is not covered by US law. The Department of State has a policy of no dual citizenship. If you challenge them they back down quickly.

You cannot lose your US citizenship. Some people have gone to the US Embassy and declared that they no longer wish to be a US citizen, but that really doesn't mean anything. Lee Harvey Oswald did that and turned in his passport in Russia. He later changed his mind and they issued him a new passport no questions asked.

I believe you cannot have a duel citizenship with the USA and another country. I'm about 70% sure.
