Can I enter China on a L visa and change to a Z or F visa?

Can I enter China on a L visa and change to a Z or F visa?

I am in a bit of a pickle. Wanting to get a Z or F class visa for China but cannot as I am not in my country of residence when applying. I can get an L class visa. When I am in China can I get a Z or F class visa? If not, is it possible to get these from Hong Kong (and how?)

Definately not. If you are not in China, use a visa service in the USA to obtain your z visa. Despite what you may read, you absolutely cannot change an L or F visa to Z class in China, NOR can you change it in Hong Kong. Those days are long gone.

The visa conversion from L to Z or to F may be done via an agency in mainland for some developed countries.

It depends on your nationality. If you come from some developed country, it is not hard to change L visa to F visa through an agent when you are already in China mainland.

If you are officially employed by some company registered in China, you can apply for a Residence Permit (work visa). But it is quite complicated and full of paperwork.
