Can I go to Belgium with just a Philippine passport and a SOFA ID? No Schengen VIsa?

I am living in a US AF base in Germany. I have a green card but I don't have a US passport yet. I need to visit a sick family member in Belgium, will my Philippine Passport and SOFA ID be enough? Do i need to get a tourist visa (Schengen visa?)

The previous answerer did not even read the links he provided. A Schengen tourist visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days, for periods of longer than 90 days other type of visa for other purposes than tourist travel are required.
For visa waived countries a total stay of 90 days in a six month period is allowed for the entire Schengen zone.

Officially you would need a Schengen tourist visa for Belgium since your ID card issued under the Status of Forces Agreement would only be valid with an official travel order (DD-Form 1610) and the Green Card does not waive the visa requirement for a Philippine passport holder.

Since there are no border controls between Germany and Belgium any longer and both are NATO countries you could risk a land travel by car or train. If you should trap into a control do not show your Philippine passport or your Green Card, just your US-ID card.

The Belgium Embassy is at Berlin responsible for all German federal states except North-Rhine Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Sarreland, for which the consulate at Cologne is applicable, just in case you want to apply for a visa.

is your SOFA id same as a residence card for Germany?(sorry i made a mistake when i first answered you )
if so? then yes you can go to Belgium,.
your passport with the residence card is sufficient,
once you are allowed to live in the schengen zone? you can travel within the schengen zone with no visa.

PS:
i have been looking for a while to find out about your SOFA id, and i have found a forum where people talk about traveling while in Germany,on AF base.
you may want to look at this ?
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threadselect.jsp?fid=2&tid=349586
so SOFA is an id for people living as dependent on military base,

You are ok, you would need the Schengen visa only if staying in Belgium for more than 90 days. See here
