hello,
i'd like to ask about the immigrant visas. am a saudi girl who's going to marry an american guy(egyptian origin).i want to do the immigrant visa from saudi,but the problem is that my fiance can't come except for one month,to get married & take me with him,is it enough,if not can i start it myself?is there any way that we can do this? please help me

You should call the Embassy and ask if he could file the I-130 petition at the embassy. I was under the impression the Embassies routinely accept these petitions, in lieu of having to file in the US. Perhaps things have changed over the past years, though. That's why it's best to call.
Embassy web site makes it appear that you can't (http://riyadh.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas/immediate-relatives-of-u.s.-citizens), but it's worth calling, or at least trying when you get married. If they refuse to accept it, your husband can always file it in the US.

No, things won't work out the way you have it planned above. After you've married, your husband would need to file an I-130 immigrant petition for you with USCIS in the US. That could take up to a year to process before you could actually get an immigrant visa interview at the embassy in Riyadh. there is nothing you can do on your own for this.
Edit: US embassies will normally only take direct filing of immigrant petitions from Americans who are actually legally resident in that country. |
