When I mean get I mean renew because I already had mine. I moved to America when I was 4 and now i'm 17. I became a U.S. citizen when I was 15.

You need to contact with Ethiopian embassy in the USA and show them your birth certificate that you was born in Ethiopia and I think you have chance to get dual citizenship - US and Ethiopian!

It depends on whether you renounced your citizenship to get your new one or not.
If you did then you are no longer Ethiopian, you are American. So if the Americans renounce your citizenship, you become stateless.
As you were under age at the time, then you could still be entitled to choose.
I would apply for the Ethiopian passport and see what happens.
You could be allowed to have dual nationality by holding a passport for both Ethiopia and the USA. If a reciprocal agreement between the two countries exists.
It could be useful to you to hold both but you may have to select one country or the other and I would imagine you could get further on an American passport than you can on an Ethiopian one, if you have to choose. |
