well basicly, i was born and raised in the uk but due to my greek cypriot origin i have to do mllitary service at cyprus. i have family in both greece and cyprus. so my question is can i do my military service in greece instead as i wold like to see family ?

Sorry, no. Cyprus it is. And if you do not do it, the next time you enter the country, they will help you into your uniform with whatever force necessary.
