I am already a student. But I can't work and be eligible for OPT after a year. So I want to change my status.
Can you plz tell me what is the procedure and documents needed exactly for converting visa from H4 to F1.
Also how long does it take?

This requires you to re-apply to the university and be issued an I-20 and with this I-20 you then file Form I-539 with the USCIS. You will also need to submit your I-20, original I-94 and financial documentation along with the completed form.
