Details about People to People Student Ambassador program?

Okay, so there's a lot of negative reviews about People to People, but notice that most of thsoe people didn't go?

As a student ambassador that has gone twice, and will be going on two more trips in 2009, it is worth it. More than worth it. It will be about $5000 for a 21 day trip. Including airfare, hotels, events, and all food. You don't need any extra money if you don't want it. Also, it is definently possible to completely raise that money before you go.

There is no fee at the meeting. It will cover your basic questions, and it will give you an idea of the actual costs. The interview process is fairly simple. They ask you questions about past experiences, extra curriculars, and how you would deal with some potentially awkward situations. Not too hard at all.

I got invited to the same trip! I do plan on going, and I'm in the northern California delegation, my meeting is the 10th or the 11th, I get to choose.

OMG!!!!! I just got an invitation to the People 2 people student program too!!!!!!!!! I got invited to England, Italy, and France. My friends went a couple of years ago to Europe and they paid around 5000 dollars,and got to stay with another family and went to their son/daughter's schools, they even got to meet Christiano Ronaldo. I might go if I can afford it, but it sounds pretty fun.

Depending on the trip, you'll have to pay between $5,000 and $8,000 for the trip. They'll tell you about it at the meeting. This isn't free.

Well it might be the vacation of a lifetime but that is about it. To be honest the organization isn't all it cracked up to be. These are generally mass mailed letters trying to target as many kids as possible.

I was told once by a teacher who had chaperoned a people to people's trip that the chaperon tries their best to insure they invite and try to load as many people on to this trip. More people that pay money to go on to this trip, less money they pay to go on the trip as well. So there is little prestige in actually joining.

I tried out, before knowing this. Interview process was easy... and I was accepted, sadly my family didn't have several several thousands of dollars just laying around for me to use to go on a vacation abroad.

Hello! I'm a People to People Student Ambassador Alumnus and I traveled with P2P in the summer of 07 to europe! There is not a fee that you have to pay at the meeting. you have to pay an application fee ranging from $95-$400. when i went, it was $400. Usually at the meeting, they will go over everything with you. The interview process is tough, but I haven't heard of anyone not passing through it. All People to People wants is your money anyways! :D But they ask you simple questions like...
What would you do if your host family gave you a food that you don't like? or...
How many times have you traveled with anyone other than P2P?

But other than that, it's simple. The trip itself can range from $3,000-$10,000. Hope this helps!
