Do I have the right to dual citizenship on the grounds of my mothers nationality as an Austrian/German?

My mother was born in the Tyrol in Austria, which was later subsumed into Germany, she served in the German armed forces and was a POW of the Russians for some years.
She married my father a British Serviceman and moved over to the UK.
Do I have an automatic right to German or Austrian citizenship?
I would like it to be so when I think of how she suffered after the war in both Russia and Britain.

very probably not - because it is quite unlikely that your mother acutally hold her Austrian and/or German citizenship at the time of your birth. German women who married a foreign national frequently lost their German citizenship, for example.

But to check this case in detail you'll have to apply at the Austrian or German embassy or ask a lawyer.

You don't have the right to German citizenship if you are a citizen of any other country - Germany does not recognise dual citizenship.
My ex was German, and she kept her German citizenship as you can't get it back if you give it up, and you can't have any other citizenship with it.
Dunno about Austria.
