Do you think USA have to follow the Geneva Convention?

If you reasonably expect potential American POW's to be treated under the Convention, then it behooves the US to follow it as well. That's what war crimes are all about, not following the rules of engagement , which includes detainment and interrogation. Not abiding makes any as bad as the other. |

Since the US did sign and ratify the Geneva Convention, then yes. The US has to lead by example; otherwise, it will open the door for other countries to ignore it as well. |

We come closer to following it than any other country does. The problem is we aren't fighting a country but rather insurgents who are from many other counties so the Geneva Convention goes right out the door.
The convention says we can't shoot people but we can shoot their uniforms and equipment. The insurgents DOESN'T wear uniforms. We do shoot their equipment but we tend to miss sense their equipment consists of an AK-47 rifle and we end up hitting the insurgent themselves. |
