twin,
I certainly hope not.
Nothing that cannot be solved by a couple of well-placed smart munitions, however.
The U.S. and the world is right to be concerned about the likes of their ayatollah with nuclear capabilities. The Iranians are unstable, led by an unstable person. Who would feel safe with a maniac with a nuke button? |

anything is possible, they've dispersed their nuclear complexes into hardened facilities. The US and/or Israel may be able to slow their development, but with China or North Korean help, i doubt whether we can hold them off forever.
The current nuclear program is headed by the President, the commander of the Iranian Revulutionary Gaurd Corps (IRGC), the head of the Defense Industries Organization, and the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO). These leaders continue the pursuit of WMD's and support Chemical, Biological, and Nuclear programs against all pressures from the United States and its allies.
Also, in this atmosphere of deception, unconfirmed reports have been made that Tehran purchased several nuclear warheads in the early 1990's
According to current military intelligence, Iran does not currently have nuclear weapons, and would appear to be about two years away from acquiring nuclear weapons. By some time in 2006, however, Iran could be producting fissile material for atomic bombs using both uranium enriched at Natanz and plutonium produced at Arak. The Natanz facility might produce enough uranium for about five bombs every year, and the Arak facility might produced enough plutonium for as many as three bombs every year.
if they do acquire nuclear status, watch for the arms race as Egypt, Syria and others will want to join the nuclear club. Iran's acquisition of an operational nuke will rank up there with the coming of Hitler and Bolshevik Revolution. |

No doubt there is only one way to stop Iran..This way is simply to press Israel also to get rid of its nuclear programme. The balance of power in that region is equally
needed as it is the case with Pakistan & India. You can not
ask one Party to stop its programme and leave the other to
continue in developing it. |

It is well known that the U.N. themselves thwarted the food for oil program, so sure... Iran will get nukes - theres a ton of nations just foaming at the mouth to supply them. |

That is a tough question. Nowdays, who knows what will happen with a loose cannon like Bush.
They'll probably try to wait untill he leaves office. |

Yes. They aren't getting the technology from us anyways, we can only say "stop that or we'll retaliate", then retaliate. |

There are several issues here that have to be answered.
1) Do we have the right to stop Iran from developing Nuclear Energy?
2) Can we actually prevent them from doing so?
It is certainly in the best interest of countries that are not friendly with Iran to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. If a nuclear energy program is a pathway to nuclear weapons, which it seems to be, we would be stupid not to try to stop them from developing it any further. We are using nuclear energy, so what gives us the right to stop someone else from using it? History has shown us that Iran cannot be trusted. If they develop nuclear weapons, they may well decide to use them on one or more of their enemies. That would be a mistake for the entire world. We saw at Chernobyl that nuclear radiation can quickly spread far and wide. It affects the entire globe. So who can be trusted with nuclear power? I think that any country must show the world that they can use it safely and protect the fissionable material from terrorist hands. Iran must prove, which in my opinion they have not done yet, that they can be trusted. I think that it is our duty to try to prevent nuclear weapons from getting into the hands of fanatics and terrorists.
The question of whether we are able to stop them or not depends on the resolve of responsible nations. If the United Nations has the resolve to prevent something, it can be done. The United Nations is full of representatives who have other agendas, like trade, who don't want to risk upsetting a trading partner and don't see the risks involved.
Now is the time to act to prevent what could be a disaster for the entire human race. Don't wait until it is too late. |

The U.s. should watch who thew keep as ignorant as themselves. Nuc's are a doomed and dooming technology, education is the best weapon. Iran wants the power to come out of the 3rd world. Wind and solar would do this for them but they don't know about them or they wouldn't get them in the headlines. |
