Does anyone have advice for getting my fiance a Visa to the USA from Egypt?

I will be traveling to Egypt in a year or so to get married to my fiance in Cairo. I am an American citizen, and he is Egyptian. We don't have a clue how to get him a Visa to travel back to the U.S. with me, once we are officially married. And we are both very limited in our finances. Neither of us have a clue what to do to prepare for this life-changing occasion. Can he even come here once we are married? Someone please help! We are in love, and don't know what to do! please help.

First, if you do what dulcern4u suggests and try to get him into the country with a tourist visa, after you're married in Egypt, you are asking for big, big, big trouble.

This is the proper way.

You get married in Egypt. You return to the USA alone. You submit a visa sponsorship application to CIS for your husband.

The visa application will be processed in the United States. It will then be forwarded to the embassy in Egypt. They will send your husband a package of instructions. Once he has completed everything (police clearance, physical examination, photos, finger prints, etc...) and submitted it to the embassy they will process the application and notify him to make an appointment for an interview.

He will be interviewed by an American Consular Officer.

Assuming everything is okay he'll be issued a visa and allowed to travel to the USA. It should take about 6 months.

You've going to need money for fees. You are also going to need to prove adequate income (150% of the poverty level for your family size ... about $18,000 a year for a family of 2) to sponsor him and execute an affidavit of support.

You keep asking this same question over and over. The answer isn't going to change.

Good luck.

Best suggestion is to travel back with to the US with no acknowledgement of your marriage to the authorities. If you present to the US as "married"-you are not able to enter as tourists since you are a resident and your spouse would be required to have a "green card". Your husband would have to go back to Egypt and wait for you to submit the paperwork for "adjusting his status", and then wait for an interview date at the embassy in Egypt(they'd make you fly back for the interview as well!). Once he's here legally (even a tourist is legal), then just marry locally (?courthouse) and submit the application to adjust his status and begin the "green card" process. He will be able to work here legally while the appl is in process (they will stamp his passport) and then it will just be a waiting game. Spouses of american citizens do not have the country quota limits to worry about for processing, but be prepared for alot of questions and probbing as your fiance is from a "red flag" country. Also get your finances in order-YOU must show proof of the ability to support your husband-there are specific calculations of mandatory income in order to sponsor someone (even your husband) for residency. Hope this helps!
