Of course, any felony committed by someone claiming diplomatic immunity is serious, but overall, statistically, no, the diplomatic crime rate in the US is not a serious problem.

Yes, I never understood the concept of "diplomatic immunity" - I think it's important to abide by the laws of whatever country you are in - diplomat or not. No, I have never been the victim of a crime committed by a diplomat. |

Well from movies like die hard or lethal weapon or 48 hours or whatever the hell nonsese it was I know that diplomats routinely deal drugs and kill people and something really should be done. I mean look at Iran, they imprisoned nuns for years. |

Most of the USA Foreign Aid is stolen and/or converted to other uses by Diplomats in the Overseas Countries. |

Potentially, yes, but I'm not sure how big a problem this really is. Most of the crime I see reported is to do with things like unpaid parking tickets. |

I think if the diplomat has committed a "serious" crime, such as rape, murder, or molestation, etc., then it is a serious problem. I don't think that diplomats are responsible for many crimes in the US or anywhere (not only the US gives diplomatic immunity), but I can't bring myself to say that one murder committed by a diplomat is not a serious problem.
I understand what you mean, and I agree that our crime problem in the US is not due to diplomatic immunity, but, again, I can't bring myself to say that it is not serious when a diplomat commits a violent crime. |
