There could be more than one penalty. Number one, an alien who is unlawfully present (overstay) for one year or more is inadmissible for 10 years from the date of his departure from the U.S. In other words, when someone has one year or more of unlawful presence, the bar is ten years.

Departure from the US triggers the bar. Therefore, someone who is here in unlawful presence, but does not depart the United States will not have the bars imposed. However, should that person ever have to leave the United States and try to return, the bars would be imposed.

Another penalty would be arrest and deportation. If you are ordered deported for violating the terms and conditions of your admission, you are inadmissible and not eligible for a visa for 10 years.

A third penalty is the ineligibility created by being inadmissible and not eligible for a visa of any kind without obtaining a waiver which is costly and time consuming.

Detention, removal, and deemed inadmissible to enter the US for 10 years; loss of Visa Waiver Program privileges, if applicable.

Illegal act, deportation and forget getting another visa.
Highly recommended you see an immigration lawyer....

15 years! oh gee! if you get caught? kiss it good bye! if you had stayed legal? you could have become a legal resident and an US citizen?what has happened? i do not get it?
as long as some a........does not report you? live on the edge! i certainly would not want to be in your place? you will not only get in big trouble, but do you realize that you will have nothing for all theses years worked illegally, no retirement, nothing? it might have seemed fun to get away? but what will you have for all theses years worked for :NOTHING? if you get caught? remember the IRS? think of it?????????? and do not forget the immigration ? oh ? i cannot imagine even putting myself in such a position?why??
when it will fall? it will be nothing compared to Niagara falls!
have a good night, it is late here;

Nothing. Look at all the illegal immigrants from Mexico. Nothing happens to them, Bush made this possible.

what's the penalty? not enough unfortunately. it should be deportation but our governement turns a blind eye lest someone get "offended"

probably not much, our immigration laws are worthless. I'm sure you'll be okay. Get a lawyer and argue its Bush's fault. lol. Welcome to America.
