Dual passport holder leaving UK question.?

Hi everyone.
I am an overseas student from Hong Kong. I hold two different passports - BNO [British National (Overseas)] and a Hong Kong passport.

Actually, my BNO is sent to Home Office to apply visa (and yes, I need a visa to stay at UK)
But i have a urgent situation, i need to go back to Hong Kong by the end of April (actually the sooner i go back, the better it will be).
And I am afriad that I can't get my BNO back in time.
I know I can get my BNO back by asking Home Office,
but it will lead to my application being withdrawn.
It is the last thing I ever want.

I am wondering is it possible to use my Hong Kong passport to leave and enter UK again? when i entered UK, i used my BNO.
Actually, I never use my Hong Kong passport, which is blank. I always used my BNO to enter or leave UK.

Yes, you can use your Hong Kong SAR passport since it may be used to visit the United Kingdom visa exempted for up to 180 days; you should not have any problems since you are able to tell the Border Agency Officer why you are using the SAR travel document.

No you will definately need the BNO.
You can pay extra to put the application forward.

I would not chance it as immigration have on record your movement in and out of UK.

I suggest you get in touch with Home Office for a solution. Generally Home Office are quite good in meeting their dateline unless there are problems with your status, than the approval for the visa would take longer than what they have advised you.

Talk to Home Office for your passport.
