when apply for a visa,where exactly is fingerprint taking .is it at the embasy or point of entry to uk?

THE ANSWER ABOVE IS INCORRECT AS IT APPLIES TO THE USA, NOT THE UK.

In the case of the UK, fingerprints are taken at the embassy when the visa is applied for.

I believe that they are currently trialling a scheme to take prints again at the point of entry, but it is still in it's early stages (only at Gatwick Airport so far I believe).

So the real question is, what country are you referring to? Visa applicants to the US are fingerprinted at the embassy, and again at the Port of Entry. As noted above, the UK requires a fingerprint at the embassy, and is looking to expand the program to the Port of Entry, as well. As yet, Schengen visas do not require a fingerprint at either point.
