I'm not inviting psychoanalysis of the fellow, of course. What I mean by asking is learn whether his government's decision to push ahead with last weekend's polls was due to factors that escape the eye of the casual news reader.

No he has not gone mad. He is a very shrewd politician with absolutely no caring for any one else but himself. This is my observation of his and his peoples behaviour. He is caught in a vortex of violence and greed that has gotten out of control and implicated so many others that that they have to help him maintain the control of an out of control situation. There is only one thing going for him and that is his own mortality.
