Has anyone had a countersignatory for signed passport who is not really that proffesional?

Does the passport office just want you no someone whos proffesional......please answer my question this is really annoying me that dotors and others ask for £30 or more for a signature !!!!!!!!!!!!

I have countersigned a lot of passports as I am a teacher.

There is actually quite a long list of people who are allowed to sign. Doctors put that fee up because in reality they don't want the hassle and hope to put people off.

you can ask anyone, do you know a friend or relative that has a business? I used a friend of mine that had a travel agency.

actually a relative can, I signed my husbands as I have a business and a VAT number.

A relative cant do it in even if they run a Business. Look on the passport website it should give you a list.
http://www.ips.gov.uk/passport/apply-countersign.asp
You can even apply on line and they will check all the details are correct and then send you the forms already filled in. You get them counter signed and send them back with your photos.
