US resident studying in the phils,ill be goin to the states this april and have just renewed my passport. do i need to do anything ,like inform the US embassy,or it should be ok now

No, you don't need to inform the US Embassy about your renewed passport.And to be on the safe side, bring with you your old passport when you travel here to the US. |

If by resident you mean you have a green card, not at all, your green card gets you in and out of the US.
If you mean you have some other sort of visa, no, but you will need to keep the old passport with your visa in it and have it ready to show at customs and immigration -- the passport has expired but the visa is still valid. |

Ooops. You said you left the US to study in the Philippines. Yes? I do hope that you study period was less than a year. If it was less than a year, then having a new Philippine passport and your green card will be enough to get you back in the US. However IF your study took longer than a year but less than two, you may need a re-entry permit to get back in. Also, you should have filed that using form I-131 30 days before you left. I will stop here as you have not mentioned the time you spent out of the US. |
