I am an Iranian-American, born in Massachusetts and I have dual citizenship to both Iran and the USA because my parents are Iranian. Now, I married my husband 5 months ago in an American-style ceremony and we would like to visit Iran in 2010 and want to know how to go about making him a citizen. I think he has to convert to Islam and we have to have an Islamic marriage, etc. I know women are automatically granted this citizenship through marriage but what are the rules for men?

I am hurt by some of your answers. You guys have such a bad view of Iran. Yes there are bad people there as there are everywhere, but I know for certain that my family is not some of them. You'd be surprised by how much Iranians love Americans and the US, the govt just doesn't like Americans, the citizens can't help what country they were born in and their rules and regulations. There are anarchists and terrorists there as there are everywhere. But because they are different than you, you want to point fingers.
On another note, get your geography straight, Iraqi's throw shoes, not Iranians.
Also, if you have Iranian friends that would not pass on their citizenship to someone else, then I feel sorry for them because they are disinheriting their heritage. My husband is open to going and I am not focing him to go.
You think I like covering up when I got to Iran? Hell no! I am not even an practicing Muslim, but it's worth it if I get to see my family.
