Don't listen to glib answers about marry her and divorce. It can be done, but you must remain married at least 2 years...AND if you are caught in a fraudulent marriage you will be deported and even denied re-entry to the USA. I'm married to a European, we had been married a couple of years already before we both moved to the US. The green card process was pricy and time-consuming. There is such a thing as a finace visa, provided you marry within 6 months.
Unfortunately, the current economy is working against you. It will be harder to find an employer willing to sponsor you on work visa (Providing you are a skilled worker or professional). Does your girlfriend or her family own a business? |

Marry her and get a Green Card. Then you can divorce again if both of you feel better that way.

normally it takes 7 years or so, and just a little bit of motivation, for example if you broke up with your girlfriend. however, I'm not totally sure, I just know that's about what it would be if someone in the U.s. went to the u.k. |
