im an italian high school student and im currently attending a one year exchange program that ends on june 14, but i like the school, the place and i love playing football and my coach wants me back next year. its possible to get another J1 visa for another year?

High school students are limited to one year as a foreign exchange student. You must return home in June, and will not be able to get a student visa again until you go to college -- if you are accepted, and if you & your parents have sufficient funds to pay all of your education and living expenses for the 4 years of college. |

Il visto ‘J 1 Exchange Visitor’ consente a studenti, studiosi, vincitori di borse di studio, stagisti, insegnanti
e specializzati di varie discipline, di fermarsi temporaneamente negli Stati Uniti per attendere
al compito preaccordato ed, eventualmente, ottenere anche un ‘compenso’ per la loro collaborazione.
Questo visto deve essere sponsorizzato da una Istituzione quale un’Università Americana, un Ufficio
Governativo, un’Organizzazione Internazionale, un Ospedale, una grande Azienda di livello internazionale,
ecc. Ammissione, durata ed eventuali estensioni variano a seconda del tipo di domanda.
Anche la formula ‘Au Pair’ rientra sotto questo tipo di visto.
Per ottenere il visto J1 occorre essere in possesso del documento (form) che rientra sotto la sigla
DS 2019 e che viene rilasciato dalla Istituzione alla quale è stata fatta la domanda e che ha accettato
la collaborazione.
Solo quando in possesso del documento DS 2019 si potrà inoltrare la domanda per ottenere il visto J1.
Si tenga presente che qualora il documento DS 2019 venga rilasciato a persona che si reca negli
Stati Uniti a svolgere una attività promossa e sponsorizzata da un Ente Governativo italiano o
americano, essa ricade sotto la norma dell’ Art. 212 (Section 212 – Two years rule) che prevede
che - terminata la prestazione - per due anni non potrà avanzare richiesta di un visto di lavoro in
America.
Il visto J1 avrà validità rapportata alla durata del contratto previsto dal DS 2019. E’ consentito tuttavia
recarsi negli Stati Uniti un mese prima dell’inizio dell’attività e ripartire fino a un mese dopo il termine.
Lo stesso potrà essere esteso, ma, in questo caso, occorre l’emissione di un nuovo visto..
