i am a british woman living in spain i had my baby here 13 weeks ago we have now decided to go back to britian due to my husband being offered a job there, we are both british and also our 3 yr old, is there a way i can get to u.k with our new son without having to wait 6 to 12 weeks for his british passport?? can he go on mine? travel with a tempory one? go there by car........... ive read on bbc news today bout the borders being easy to cross and some countries you dont need a passport?? please help me as i may have no where to live in 2 weeks?? i have phoned embassy etc.. but they are closed till tommorow

thanks but my son is 13 weeks old he doesnt have a pass port!! this is what i want to know is there a way for an emergancy one ???? getting it here in spain or u.k?

The embassy can issue a passport in 24 to 48 hours.

you will need;
completed application form*
two identical passport photos, one certified
documents that prove the child is British
payment.

It has not been possible to add a child to an adult's passport since 6 October 1998. However, children who are already included in their parents' passports can continue to travel on these passports until they reach the age of 16 or the passport expires.

If the passport on which your child is included is replaced, you have to apply for a separate passport for the child.

A child passport costs Â£46 for a standard application.

You cannot travel to the UK without a passport as Britain is not part of the Schengen zone, which allows passport-free travel within most of Europe.
Contact the nearest British embassy or consulate, which will issue you a passport. There will be an additional rush fee if you need the passport quickly though.
