Joining the U.S. Navy by non-U.S. citizens
Enlistment into the U.S. Navy, or any branch of the U.S. military, by citizens of countries other than the United States is limited to those foreign nationals who are legally residing in the United States and possess an Immigration and Naturalization Service Alien Registration Card (INS Form I-151/551 â€” commonly known as a "Green Card"). Applicants must be between 17 and 35; meet the mental, moral, and physical standards for enlistment; and must speak, read and write English fluently.

Your choice of career fields and assignments may be somewhat restricted while you hold foreign national status.

YOu should contact your nearest Navy recruiter for details and determine if you otherwise qualify for enlistment.
Only after immigration procedures are completed and an applicant is legally residing in the United States may an application for enlistment be accepted.

Furthermore, in order to be commissioned an officer in the U.S. Navy, one must be a native-born or naturalized United States citizen.

If you are a member of the U.S. Armed Forces and are interested in becoming a U.S. citizen, you may be eligible to apply for citizenship under special provisions provided for in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Service for one year in the armed forces will quality you to apply for naturalization; whereas it takes five years permanent residence, or three years as a spouse of a citizen to apply.

But since we are in a state of hostilities, the one year service has been waived, and any person serving in the military who is not a US citizen can apply immediately for naturalization based on one day of active duty service.

You can't enlist unless you are a US citizen or unless you have a Green Card.

I believe that the U.S. armed forces have a program for persons from other countries that want to serve in the military to become American citizens, simply look on-line at Navy recruitment sites or if you are now in the U.S. call your nearest recruiter.
