It will look like fraud... it will look like you only married him for a greencard and your husband won't have to do a thing. You will most likely not get citizenship seen as how you already left him....

Your husband can report you to the USCIS for marriage fraud if he feels you only married him to get citizenship, and you can be deported. But it depends if you have a conditional green card or a 10 year green card, and how long you have been married
If you have a 10 year green card, he can't do anything |

He cannot stop you. Citizenship application is your application. If you divorce him and leave him, you are under 5 years wait requirement to be eligible to file Citizenship. You also have to reveal on the application that you are divorced date. Then it is totally up to Immigration Officer to find out whether you married to him for green card and consequently to approve your citizenship. |

Just contact an immigration lawyer. Don't even bother listening to any here - ask around and get find a good immigration lawyer. You know what you should do - is call the Immigration Office and see if there is one of there lawyers around and come out and ask them "who's a good lawyer". Sounds crazy, right? It works. I've gotten into a little of trouble in the past - I called the police station that I got into my "trouble" - the cop laughed and said "wow, I've never got a call like this before (he was laughing)" - I could tell he was impressed that I had the balls to call - you know what. He gave me the name of a lawyer - as he gave me the name he said "this is one of the smartest calls you've ever made". I called the lawyer and the result was "amazing". You don't do what I did and get off - I got totally off and the incident didn't get on my license - like it "never happened" |
