My friend is going to be going to his visa interview in London to get a student visa to the US and he needs to show ties to England but we're not sure how we can do this?

Well if he is coming to the U.S. to study I am pretty sure he already got an IMMIGRATION FORM called I-20, now in addition to that he can always bring a sponsor's bank statement, proof of business or work, proof of property ownership and etc. etc. but it has to be something official like notarized and stuff. See the bottom line is he has to prove that he will return to his home country after completion of his degree here at the U.S. and in this case the verbal interview with the consular officer plays an important role too, the officer has to believe that this applicant will return to his home country after his education at the U.S. Good luck to your friend |

Financial and civic ties are another way to demonstrate that you'll be going back to the UK. Proof of involvement in community organizations might help (i.e., show that you want to go back to the UK and benefit your community). I have more experience with friends from developing countries than developed economies like the UK, though. |
