How do I get a criminal background check notarized?

I need to get a residence permit to live abroad and one requirement is to get a criminal background check.

I know one way is directly apply to the FBI, but that'll take weeks to months. I heard I could get a criminal background check from online and get it notarized. Is this true? If so, where can I get criminal background check and can it be notarized by any public notary officer or, does it have to be notarized by an embassy?

only an FBI or state FBI background check will be accepted by a foreign govt.

They notarize it already. You must be patient or forget it they will not grants you any docs without it being official from a govt agency.

know before you go abroad go to www.travel.state.gov and pick the nation you are going to. lots to learn.
