I have made an appointment for a new passport application, because I have recently got married and therefore, changed my surname. I live in the UK and need documents such as Passport, Photos and Marriage Certificate certified. I am going to have the originals when I go for the appointment. Do I need to take certified copies with me, and if so, where would I get them certified. I have heard I can go to my bank or police station and its free. Is this correct? Thanks

If your, documents are from another country such as the U.S. and you need to show in the the UK, for instance, it sounds like you need to have these documents Apostilled. Depending on what country the documents are from will determine where you have to have them "certified" or Apostilled which ever the case may be. |

I have a mate who is in the police and he signs them for nothing bank managers and doctors usually make a charge.
Find out who can sign the forms and photos and see if you can tap up some friends for free. |

Banks are useless, when I needed my photo signing my bank refused, your GP will do it, as will accountants, solicitors, teachers/lecturers. But for some you may have to pay a fee and don't forget to take the originals along with you as well as your copies. |

certification of any document is country specific, means some countries ask for attestation and some countries ask that you can give them copies but when you visit the embassy, you can show them originals. therefore, in your question you will need to give the details so that you can get an appropriate answer. |
