I am an American and recently I was in Romania and visited the University I wish to attend and talked to the secratary of international affairs, and the vice rector of the university! They told me what I should do and how how to apply and that I can apply for the university within the country! My only true question is how do I get the visa for stay over there! I talked to the united states embassy in Romania and they said it gets taken care of at the office of immagration in Romania. The embassy of romania on its website says that you get it by applying in your own country! Now I called them too but the guy I talked to says thats just general information and might not apply to me, that he didn't know and needed to talk to the consulate! So here is my question, can anyone tell me wether or not I get the visa in Romania when I go, or here in America, and since when they do issue you the visa for studies in Romania and that visa only lasts 90 days anyways before you have to renew it at the immagration office for the full stay of your studies and I can already go there for 90 days no problem why do I need to get a student visa from here for entry? I'm looking for a awnser from someone who might have done this or actually knows! Because if you research it on the embassy website, that information is general and dosn't apply to some countries like the UK, USA, Canada etc...or at least thats what the embassy of Romania told me and everything that website says contradicts what the university, the American embassy in Bucharest, and the office of immagration in Romania told me!

If you want to live in Romania, you need to have good nerves for the Romanian bureaucracy, sir.
Now don't worry. You are American-that means you have access everywhere in the world
Btw, it is good that some Americans, as worrisome like you, have to experience what ALL Romanians have to experience when they apply for visa in US. I give a star for that.
Now, you can always apply for study visa in Romania at the US embassy, I think. Again, don't worry.
Don't trust the websites because they need to be updated. |

If you dont have a visa, dont worry about it. They will take master card too. :-) |

I think they also take Master Card and American Express. I am not sure about the Discovery Card. |
