How do you get british citizenship.. already aussie citizen but want dual?

I have tried doing some research but have not been able to come up with a definite answer yet so I was hoping others could help me.

I am currently an Australian citizen and am looking into the possibility of obtaining dual citizenship with a british citizenship.

I am currently 20 years old, and my father is a british citizen (he was born in England and lived there until he was about 20) and I believe I may be eligible for british citizenship by descent? My mother is only an Australian citizen.

However, I am unsure as to the process of how to register as a british citizen and was hoping that someone has been in a similar position and is able to help me.

Apply for a British Passport - If your father was born in UK then you will qualify. This automatically gives you Citizenship - My daughters were born in South africa (i was born in UK) and they have dual citizenship South Africa / UK - no other forms are required. Contact British Embassy in Australia and obtain a passport form (all required is copy of your fathers birth certificate) - Good Luck to you - Love Aussie - lived there in 1970 for 7 years - Beautiful Country

I got a British Ancestry visa, as my ganddad was born in Aberdeen. The process was long and they sent a whole lot of forms to fill in. Does your dad have his birth certificate? Get all these things ready and be prepared for some paperwork, but the result will be worth it.
With ancestry visa, you have to live in UK for 4 years and then you can have a Brit passport.
But since your dad was Biritsh, that process should be easier. It is best to go down to the embassy and ask...
