Ireland views the United States with a mixture of awe and dissapointment. You were once the most egalitarian and free countries in the world. That is not the case now. At the moment we prefer your money and investment to your country.

Since we are native english speakers, unlike our European brothers and sisters, we tend to be able to criticise you without you knowing it or you taking it in good light. We were in disbelief when your country did not use the UN with the situation in Iraq.

It also slightly ticks us off when alot of Americans have no clue about Ireland or Europe beyond heresay or funnelled through media.

The Irish people I have met have viewed it in a positive light. TheyÂ´re generally not anti-American like other Europeans.
