How much is the salary of someone working at an embassy?

For example, a person who just graduated from the course and someone who is very experienced already at this field? Do embassies vary as well? Does the US embassy and Malaysian Embassy for example vary in salary payment?

Nice link from KittySue. I'd just add that most college grads start as an 06, while if you have a graduate degree you start at 05.

US probably pays more than Malaysia, since it's a richer country. Of course each country has a different pay structure and system for its own diplomatic corps!

US Foreign Service officers' salaries are based on their grade level (FS-9 at the lowest level to FS-1 at the top), their years of experience, as well as where they are posted
