I'm due in one day , in August,23rd..
I'm a perminent resident.. I just wondering that there is any body out there know how to get the visiting visa for the husband to come to the U.S and visit his wife during Childbirth??? my husband went to the interview and request for the visitting visa from U.S embassy over there about a months but he fail for it.. for some reason .is very strick to get the visa to come to the U.S...
is any body done it before? and how?? or do you know any chance that he can pass the interview? know any lawyer who may help? this is very serious for me.. I knew that there is no way that he make it on time.. but atleast I wanted him to come and visit even after birth is ok.. cuz I can't fly back there until Feb,07.. we have been apart almost 5 months already.. I just missed him and felt so lonely - very sad during my pregnancy

I am curious.
If you're a permanent resident, how was it that your husband isn't a US citizen or at least a permant resident?

I feel for you. I'm an American citizen living in China, married to an African. Our child is due in November, and I will go home at the end of September, to return at the end of December with our child. My husband was denied a visa once, but was finally granted one when I called his embassy in Benin and explained that one day we would apply for an immigrant visa, but as we weren't planning to move home in the near future, we couldn't do that. I explained that my husband understood that if he overstayed his visa, it would compromise his future chances of being granted an immigrant visa. The embassy worker understood, and granted my husband a 3-year multiple entry visa. Unfortunately, he only gets 45 days each visit, so he can't be with me the entire time I'm home. He'll come a week before the baby is due, and return with me at the end of December.

Your husband will have to prove that he doesn't plan to overstay his visa. This will be very difficult seeing as his wife and child are in the US. Why wouldn't he stay in the US forever? If he has a good paying job in Laos, or owns property or a business, he may be able to prove strong ties to the country and be granted a visa. I don't know the laws for permanent residents. If you have the right to apply for permanent residence for your husband, you can perhaps try the same thing that worked for me.

Good luck.

it's very difficult for him to do it, he's already failed once, and that makes it harder to get another one immediately, also, going to the US to see his child's birth isn't a very good indication that he plans to return, he's going to have to wait up to 2-5 years to apply again (he can apply right away, but it'll probably just be denied once more since not enough time has passed) and the second time he applies he will have to have a good reason that he will not remain in the US.

I'm afraid it doesn't seem likely. All you could do is, once the baby is about 3 months old, take out a passport for him and take him to Laos to see his father.

Because of the of the laws.Your husband can not come here on a visitor visa.I have just went through something similar trying to bring my wife back from the Philippines. You must file a K-3 visa in order to bring him here.I have had to sell my small business there and now back here to to reestablish myself to bring my wife here. This is sad there is no more family values here or human rights. And for all you poor people that are being miss guide about terrorist coming to this country and that is why the laws have been changed .Read your bibles to what what going to happen. Then also check to see how much money the Government is making from visa each and every day to understand why there a visa to come here.
