How to get a "real" IRELAND passport issued in Ireland?

I lost my passport while traveling in San Francisco, and got a consulate issued one. I will be traveling for one more month in the U.S.A. How do I get a passport like I had before? The one all typed out with the holograms and everything? Do I have to go back to Ireland to get it reissued or can I mail it in and get it sent back to me here?

If you are an Irish citizen, you can get your "real" passport when you return to Ireland next month. They are not going to mail one to you while you are in a foreign country. Furthermore, you do NOT want such important documents mailed internationally!
