How to pass the exam for the Foreign Service? ?

I recently applied for a job with the foreign service in the public diplomacy area and I received an e-mail inviting me to register for the exam and I’d like to know if there is a study guide or what should I do to pass the exam, I’m fluent in Spanish, Italian, I’m learning French and although my academic language is English I do have an accent and I’m nervous about it.
I have a degree in International relations and art education and I’m currently working as an art teacher at a public school.

I have worked as a volunteer at the vatican twice, I have traveled more than most people(europe and south america) and I read a lot about international affairs.

I think Archangel is right -- I'm not really sure that speaking some fairly commonly known European languages, and your educational background, will help you all that much. I'm not trying to disparage your credentials, but pride comes before a fall, and it seems that by placing to much stock in them, you might not prepare properly.

I have done all the things the poster has done except the degree in international relations. That test is NOT breeze. The fact that you have done all those things only helps you after you get through the testing process. I have taken that test twice and was not offered employment. The test is divided into 4 areas..all timed. One area deals with your background and more of a personality test. One area is about US history and policies...it's not that hard if you kept up on world events and politics. There is an essay section where you are given a subject to explain as policy. Finally, there is an English grammar test and construction (this is harder than you think). If you do well enough on the test, they will invite you to an all day oral exam/team building interview. If you get through that, then they will offer you a job. Not to be blunt, but on average, only 10% of the folks who take that test score high enough to get to the oral section. The last time I took it, there were 2 other folks from a consulate that were trying to switch to public diplomacy from their current position as consular affairs. They both did not pass (they walked out of the test at the English part). Good Luck!

Much of that test is just common sense about various world situations and conditions. You didn't say how much you have traveled, but if you have done so extensively, you should just breeze through the exam.

Good luck... just say you want to join so you can be posted to Iraq and you are half way to being hired.
