Qualifying for a Visa

Where Do I Apply for a Visitor Visa?
Applicants for visitor visas should generally apply at the American Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over their place of permanent residence. Although visa applicants may apply at any U.S. consular office abroad, it may be more difficult to qualify for the visa outside the country of permanent residence.
Mandatory Documents:

You must bring the following documents to your visa interview:

Any country has a few concerns before they issue a visa.

1. They need to know your financial standing. So carry your personal bank statements for the last six months. If you own any other assets like fixed deposits, real estate, vehicles then do carry the documents to prove the ownership.
2. They need an assurance that you can take care of your expenses when in their country and will not be a burden on the government. So carry enough proof of your means of finance, duration of stay for eg an airticket with a confirmed date of return, address of your place of stay in their country.
3. They need to know as to what do you do in your country of residence. So carry a letter of introduction from your employers, your position in the company, years of service, permission to travel overseas.
4. Above all be honest with your information and intent!
